Susan Lessick Tent #53 was instituted April 9, 1947 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Susan Lessick was the grandmother of the first Tent President, Daisy Ensminger, who gave the following biography in her own words:
My grandmother was left a widow at an early age with four children, was cooking on the canal coming through Harrisburg, Pennsylvania until shortly before the Civil War, when she meet my grandfather, Samuel Lessick. They were married at the outbreak of the war. My grandfather enlisted at Camp Curtin shortly thereafter. Grandmother started cooking at Camp Curtin until the close of the war. Grandfather was in Libby Prison and did not return for one year after the war was over.
