President and Mrs. Lincoln to attend Funeral and
Burial
President and Mrs. Lincoln, portrayed by Max and Donna
Daniels of Wheaton, IL. will be making the journey to Memphis, MO. to attend
the funeral and burial of Corp. John Peyton Byrne on May 28, 2005.
They also will be a part of the entertainment at the
wake and vigil on Friday, May 27, 2005. Presenting "An Evening with
Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln at the White House---Just before they leave for Ford's
Theater......" This is an hour long stage performance that you won’t
want to miss starting at 7 p.m. Friday at the Memphis Theater. The
ticket cost for this is $10.00 each and the proceeds will to the John P.
Byrne Memorial Fund. Tickets will be available at Dr. Harlo Donelson’s
office or by calling Brenda DeMarce until sold out. "Note
Below" Pre-curtain time entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m. by
the Company Singers performing period Civil War music on stage.
We are very fortunate that they will be taking time
from their busy Memorial Day obligations to be here with us. They
welcome anyone to converse with them, ask questions or take photos.
Max and Donna have an extensive background in community
theater and have been portraying Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln professionally
since 1988. They are past Vice-Presidents of the National Association of
Lincoln Presenters and were named by the Association as the first recipients
of its award for "Best Abraham and Mary Lincoln Team" in 1994.
They have been featured on C-Span cable Network in
1994 in the Lincoln-Douglas Debate series and on the "Someone You Should
Know" program on Channel 7, WLS (ABC) Television in Chicago. Since 1995,
they have performed on numerous occasions at the Lincoln Home Visitor Center
in Springfield, Illinois. They research and write their own original scripts,
receiving many compliments for the entertaining way in which they present
their programs. They are popular attractions at Civil /War Reenactments
throughout the Midwest and make over 250 appearances each year for school,
libraries, and other organizations. They take great pride in bringing history
to life for audiences of all ages. In March, 2001, they were commissioned
by the Smithsonian Inst. to write and present a program explaining the
Emancipation Proclamation to children. They spent a week at the Smithsonian
Inst. presenting this program. Recently, they were featured on the
History Channel’s "Investigating History" which was filmed at the Keokuk,
IA. Civil War event in 2004.
